The basics

What is a limit order?

An order to buy or sell at a price you choose, instead of the price right now. You might buy a token only if it drops 10%, or sell only once it's up 25%. LimitX watches the market and acts when the price gets there. If it never does, nothing trades.

Does LimitX hold my funds?

No. Your tokens stay in your wallet until the moment a trade happens, and every trade is signed by your own wallet. LimitX never has your keys or your seed phrase, and never asks for them.

What's the difference between Notify me and Auto-execute?

Notify me: when your price is reached, LimitX tells you (in the app and on Telegram if you link it), and you sign the trade then. You stay in control of every trade, but you need to be around to sign.

Auto-execute: you sign once, up front, and the order fills by itself when the price is reached, even if you're asleep. Your signature allows exactly that one trade: your amount, for at least your price, paid to your own wallet, until it expires. LimitX's contract checks all of that on-chain. Auto-execute has size limits while it's new; the app shows them.

Why does my wallet ask me to sign more than once?

Connecting signs a short message that proves the wallet is yours. It costs nothing and moves no funds. After that, each trade needs its own signature. Selling a token can also need a one-time approval so the swap is allowed to move that token. Read each prompt: LimitX checks every signature it asks for against the order you set, but your wallet's prompt is the final word.

Ladders

What is a ladder?

One plan made of several limit orders ("steps") at different prices. Instead of guessing the exact bottom or top, you spread a buy or a sell across a range: for example, buy a third at 5% below the price, a third at 15% below and a third at 25% below.

Can a ladder buy and sell?

Yes. Turn on Buy in steps, Sell in steps or both. A ladder that does both buys on the way down and sells on the way up: for example, buy at $100, $90 and $80, then sell at $120, $130 and $140.

What do the sells sell: tokens I already have, or what the ladder bought?

You choose when you create the ladder. What these buys get sells only what this ladder's buys bought; those sells wait until a buy has filled. EARN I hold (with your token's name) sells tokens already in your wallet, and is active from the start. A ladder's sells all use the same one.

What if only some of my buys fill before the price turns?

The sells work with what was actually bought. Each sell takes its share: with three sells of a third each, if only half of the planned buys filled, each sell sells a third of that half. If more buys fill later, the remaining sells grow, but never above the size you saw when you created the ladder. Anything the sells don't need stays in your wallet, and the ladder shows it as "Kept".

Will my sells fire while the price is still falling?

Not on an auto-execute ladder. A sell of what the ladder bought waits until the price has come down to it and every buy is done (filled, cancelled or expired), so the ladder buys on the way down and sells on the way up instead of selling straight back at the same price. A sell's price is a minimum: if it waited, it sells at the better price once it may.

If the price turns before your last buy is reached, cancel that buy and the sells stop waiting for it.

A sell is set below today's price. Will it sell straight away?

A sell of tokens you already hold, yes, like on an exchange: the market already beats your price. The form says so on that step. A sell of what the ladder bought waits for its buys, as above.

What happens if I move or sell the tokens somewhere else?

The ladder never sells more than your wallet actually holds. If a sell finds less than it planned, LimitX offers to sell what you have, at the same price, or the step waits. A buy that's short of funds by a sliver (for example after a wallet paid gas in WETH) buys with what's there.

How many steps can a ladder have, and is there a minimum?

Up to 10 steps, each worth at least $10. Every step counts as one of your open orders.

Can I change a ladder after I create it?

A Notify ladder can be edited until any of its steps fills: Edit replaces it with the new one. An auto-execute ladder is signed as a whole, so to change it you cancel it and create a new one. You can also cancel a single buy that hasn't filled.

Which tokens can a ladder trade with?

A Notify ladder can trade with any token, priced in that token. An auto-execute ladder trades with ETH, WETH or USDG for now.

Prices, fees and fills

What does LimitX charge?

0.25% of what you receive, only when an order fills. The trade also pays the pool's own fee and any price impact, as any swap does; the app shows these before you sign.

The price touched my target but nothing happened. Why?

Your order fills at your price after fees and price impact for your size, so the quoted market price has to go a little past your target. The app shows how far away an order is. Fast moves can also touch a price and leave before a trade can be made.

Can I get a better price than I set?

Yes. Your price is a minimum. If the market is better when the order fills, you get the better price.

Do I pay gas?

Orders filled through UniswapX are usually gasless. A direct Uniswap swap is sent from your wallet and pays network gas. Revoking an auto-execute order on-chain after cancelling it also costs a small fee.

Cancelling and alerts

How do I cancel?

Open the order under Open orders and press Cancel order, or Cancel ladder on a ladder. For an auto-execute order, your wallet then asks you to revoke the signature on-chain so it can never be used. You can also do that later from History.

How will I know when to sign?

Link Telegram under Alerts (the bell): you get a message when an order is ready to sign, filled or failed, even with the app closed. Browser notifications work while LimitX is open in a tab. LimitX will never ask you to sign anything in Telegram.

Which wallets work?

Browser wallets such as MetaMask and Rabby, and phone wallets that have their own browser (open LimitX inside the wallet app).
